My $10M 401k started with the dumbest phone call I ever made. February 2020. Back then my Vanguard 401k didn’t even let me trade online, so I had to sprint out to my car during lunch at YouTube and call customer support with a few minutes left before the market closed. I had just found this tiny American facemask company called APT. After getting transferred a few times, the rep finally asks: “How many shares would you like to buy?” “All in.” “…I need a number.” “I don’t know the number. I just want all my money in APT.” Apparently that wasn’t a valid answer. So I’m sitting there frantically dividing my account balance by the share price on my phone before the closing bell. The order finally went through at $5.70. Five days later I sold at $12.76. +124%. Shoutout to whoever answered that call.
