Fun fact: my Google 401k match is how I accidentally ended up with $10M. Every year the annual bonus defaults to your 401k in late Jan and gets a 50% match. So $23,500 from the bonus + $11,750 match = $35K But... it was my first big boy job and I actually wanted it in my pocket to buy something stupid like a nice car. But... I missed the deadline to change this default setting. I thought I could do it in early Jan but the deadline was Dec 31. I was beyond pissed. So that's how I accidentally ended up with $35K in my 401k in Feb 2020. And since it was stuck there for 30+ years, I started going all-in swing trading stocks starting with $APT (US-based face mask maker) as the pandemic started and swung all the way to $10M in 21 months. Wild.
