Despite the absolutely horrendous launch video, this is a great example of solving a small but important problem in a given niche (EDA). Therefore, I expect that these guys will be pretty successful as they built a real tool that any engineer in the space can instantly understand and get measurable results from. I think that there are maybe a hundred of these low hanging fruit left in chip design and you don’t need any fancy AI to create them, just good engineering targeted directly at pain point in the industry. If I had to put my money on some other areas worth looking into I think that speeding up simulations and quick/cheap mask rework (only reason taalas was worth anything) would be very promising as well. Nevertheless, wish these guys the best and it was honestly refreshing to see something other than AI EDA for once. I hope they can find someone better to do their marketing though because this video is actually scary to watch.
