I agree you need to different designs for scale up & scale out given the requirements. Latency and reliability more important in scale up, reach and less lanes more important for scale out. I’m bullish VCSELs but somewhat biased just cause I worked with them before but I’ll look into the trade off with microLEDs. Glad everyone has basically admitted defeat on CPO in the short run. VCSELs don’t use InP either, which means despite it being in “short supply” it doesn’t really have much demand either lol.
