The Federal Reserve's decision landed at 2:00 PM Eastern, the exact minute this stream started, and we took it live. Every economist Reuters polled said hold, all 104 of them, while Citadel Securities' head of macro strategy was the only major desk calling a surprise hike. Polymarket priced no change at 80% today but a hike sometime in 2026 at 76%, and Kalshi's hike-before-2027 contract sat at 72%. The market is not arguing about whether the Fed hikes. It is arguing about when. There is no dot plot at this meeting, so the statement language and the dissent list carried all the weight.
We also cover the Senate shelving the CLARITY Act, with 2026 passage odds collapsing from above 80% in February to roughly a third, and the SEC saying it will write the crypto rules itself if Congress does not. Plus two Bitcoin liquidity events landing Friday July 31: the FTX Recovery Trust's roughly $900 million fifth creditor distribution, and a monthly Deribit expiry carrying nearly $5 billion of open interest at the $70,000 and $72,000 strikes. Then Korea's record two-day crash, where SK Hynix grew revenue 257% and operating profit 557% and still closed down 9.6%, and where Samsung has shed about a third of its value ahead of its own results. Plus Moonshot's Kimi K3, the largest open-weight model ever published, and the Microsoft and Meta earnings bar tonight.
Then the charts. Bitcoin first, sitting right on the 200-week SMA with whales adding nearly 20,000 coins in eight days. Then the Nasdaq and the chip index, then gold, then oil as an indicator. Chart requests and Q&A taken live throughout.
