Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI are collaborating to build TERAFAB, a chip manufacturing facility designed to produce 1TW of capacity per year to support space-based solar capture and AI satellites. The project aims to scale production for Tesla Optimus robots, which are projected to require 100-200GW of chips alone. This initiative seeks to close a global chip production gap that existing manufacturers are not expected to meet by 2030.
